Word Assassins ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • First and Last Name: Collected during account setup. Your name is displayed to other players in game lobbies and during active games so they can identify who they are playing with. Your name is only visible to players in lobbies you join and is not shown on public leaderboards.
  • Codename: A display name you choose for your profile. This appears on the global leaderboard and in your profile.
  • User ID: An anonymous authentication identifier used to maintain your session and link your game data
  • Apple Sign-In data: If you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier (no email is collected unless you choose to share it)
  • Google Sign-In data: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your Google user identifier and basic profile information
  • Email & Password: If you choose to sign in with email, we store your email address and a securely hashed password

Social Links (Optional)

  • Instagram handle, LinkedIn username, and/or a custom URL: You may optionally add social media links to your profile. These are entirely opt-in and are only visible to other players in lobbies you join.
  • The app does not scrape, crawl, or store any data from the linked profiles.
  • You can add or remove your social links at any time via the Profile Editor in Settings.

Gameplay Content

  • Custom words and actions you submit to game lobbies
  • Game statistics (kills, wins, games played)
  • Game history and match results
  • Lobby participation data

Device Information

  • Push notification tokens: To send you game notifications (optional)
  • Device identifier (IDFA): Used by our advertising partner (Google AdMob) to serve ads to non-premium users
  • Crash and performance data: Anonymous error logs, stack traces, and device metadata collected by Sentry to help us diagnose and fix issues

Purchase Information

  • Subscription status (free or premium)
  • Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple and RevenueCat; we do not store payment details

Advertising Data

  • Ad interaction data collected by Google AdMob (impressions, clicks) for non-premium users

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the game service
  • To manage your account and gameplay
  • To send push notifications about game events (if enabled)
  • To process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions
  • To display advertisements to non-premium users
  • To improve our services and fix bugs
  • To prevent fraud and abuse

  • Supabase: Database and authentication services
  • RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management
  • Google AdMob: Advertising for non-premium users
  • Apple Sign-In: Authentication (optional)

  • Sentry: Crash reporting and performance monitoring
  • Expo: App development and push notifications

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information.

5. Advertising & Tracking

Non-premium users may see advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (IDFA) and ad interaction data to serve personalized ads. This data may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

You will be prompted via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before any tracking occurs. You can change your tracking preference at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements and are not tracked for advertising purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Game history is retained indefinitely to maintain leaderboards and statistics. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Children's Privacy

Word Assassins is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of personalized advertising
  • Opt out of tracking via App Tracking Transparency
  • Disable push notifications

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or on our website. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
